This series is based on my observation of the systematic unveiling of a sea lion's spine. For several months I documented the decay of this animal as the weather as time and as other animals affected it's body. I saw the subtle curves of the ribs expose themselves when the meat went missing. I witnessed the core architecture lie motionless on the sandy ground. This common cycle struck me.
I began sculpting the bones from wax. I captured the forms in resin. I thought about fossils and how much information about an animal is preserved within the mineral slabs.
This series of bones, wax, resin and paper facilitate several of my notions about preserving life if only just my impressions of it's cycle.
