My Spinal Tap sculpture is a 14' tall flexible rebar spine that connects, via steel cables, pulleys and a leather harness to the participants torso. Once attached, the participants spinal movement is translated by the 14’ tall column. Three buttons that shoot an array of propane fueled fire blasts can be pressed while interacting with the sculpture. I made each fire nozzle with a different diameter and reverberation chamber so each blast has a custom sight and sound signature. Spinal Tap has been shown during 2009 at the Seattle festivals: Artopia, Critical Massive and Sea-Compression as well as Burning Man in Nevada.
